My New Dishwashing Detergent

So I found a homemade dishwashing detergent recipe and tweaked it a little. So far so good. I think I really like it! I really like the feel of this on my hands and seems to be doing a great job on cleaning the dishes too. It is not as tough on grease as my store bought detergent but I think I will just work on perfecting my recipe. So far he is what I have…

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

Homemade Dishwashing (not dishwasher) Detergent

  • 2 cups of hot water
  • 1 TBSP of Arm & Hammer Super Washing Soda
  • 1/2 cup of liquid castile soap
  • 1 TBSP of white vinegar
  • Essential Oil ( I used a few drops of lemon and maleleuca from doTERRA)
  • 1 TBSP of vegetable glycerin

  • Dissolve the washing soda into the hot water
  • Add the vinegar, essential oils and glycerin to the mix
  • Lastly add the castile liquid soap (make sure to do this last so you don’t get a bubbly mess!)
  • Mix up and pour into a cleaned out old store bought dishwashing detergent container or put into a new container (preferably glass)
